2023-2024 MNCodes Cohort Kickoff

Last week, the MNCodes Educator Cohort launched its cohort year with great enthusiasm! This passionate group of educators from across the state gathered at the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth for the Empower {MN:CS} conference (or virtually via Zoom!), marking the beginning of their cohort journey. With a shared goal of advancing computer science (CS) education in Minnesota, this cohort of educators, ranging from kindergarten to higher education, is determined to empower students and fellow educators with the knowledge and skills they need in our technology-driven world.

The MNCodes Educator Cohort brings together educators with a wide range of experiences in the world of CS, from those who are brand new to this space to others with 30 years of experience. This range of perspectives fuels our excitement as the cohort embarks on a journey of exploration and collaboration. We aim to capitalize on this varied wealth of CS knowledge to develop innovative and inclusive approaches that engage all students.
We are so anxious to dive into the sessions we have planned for this upcoming year! Each month, members will explore different CS topics, gain and share resources, and learn from a variety of CS voices and change makers. Our goal is to empower educators to incorporate the shared concepts and tools into their lessons and classrooms. By extending these opportunities and resources to students as well as fellow educators, we hope to support them as CS leaders in their school districts!

The MNCodes Educator Cohort kick-off marks the beginning of an exciting journey filled with exploration, collaboration, and empowerment. We are counting down the days until our next cohort meeting where we will dive deeper into how computational thinking supports learners, what pseudocode is, how it supports differentiation, and so much more!
Although the 2023-2024 cohort has officially kicked off, there are still a limited number of spots available for educators who are interested in joining the cohort! If you want to learn more or have any questions, reach out to educators@codesavvy.org or APPLY TODAY to secure your spot!
