Our Code Savvy Team is Expanding
We've been going through a lot of changes in the last couple of years, and it all aligns with an expansion of our vision for the organization. When we set out to strategize our goals over the next five years for Code Savvy, we set some pretty lofty objectives - particularly around expanding our reach across the state, while still continuing our focus on communities that are regularly underestimated and untapped for their creative potential.
In order to do that, we have had to shift some of our programming and reorganize the way we do some things.
But the heart of our mission is what it has been for the last decade - to provide inclusive computer science education and break down all gender, racial, and socioeconomic gaps in computing.
This summer, we have brought two new positions into the organization, critical to the success of our growth and continued ability to provide excellent service across Minnesota.
Meet the two newest members of the Code Savvy team:
Mika Turner - Administrative Assistant
Mika Turner is passionate about supporting Code Savvy's mission to empower future generations through computer science education. Mika brings a unique blend of skills, from multimedia and video art to holistic medicine. When not assisting the team or running her acupuncture clinic, Mika enjoys foraging wild foods, embracing permaculture, and cherishing moments with her loved ones - husband Isaac and their adorable cats Kal and Aster. Mika is excited to be a part of this transformative journey, and we are so lucky to have her on the team!
Paith Philemon - Volunteer Engagement Manager
Paith Philemon’s interest in programming language design and software applications stems from her desire to empower. She is dedicated to promoting equal opportunity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, as well as science communication and outreach to help people better understand the importance of programming languages. Paith brings a wealth of software development, project management, and volunteer experience to the organization and will be an incredible asset to our Code Savvy community!
Please help us welcome Mika and Paith, and let's do what we can to continue to expand access and inclusion in the field of CS and tech across Minnesota! 🙌
