On May 18th, we hosted our annual Appapalooza event, the grand finale for our Technovation Girls MN participants. This virtual live pitch event allowed teams to present their mobile app and AI projects to a panel of local industry professionals.

This year, 37 teams completed and submitted their projects for local judging and also entered the Technovation Global contest. You can watch all the pitches from this season on the Appapalooza page of our website.

Judging involved many hours of review, where judges evaluated the projects and pitch videos before the event. During Appapalooza, judges watched the live pitches and interacted with the participants, ultimately deciding the winners. Prizes were awarded the next day at our Code Savvy Celebrate! event (photos coming soon!).

App: SmartCarbon

Our app calculates the carbon emissions of people’s daily actions. On our app, people can figure out the carbon emissions of their lifestyle such as their driving, house, and diet, and then learn ways to reduce them. Individuals input their lifestyle and the app outputs their carbon emissions and ways to reduce them. This helps individuals find ways to decrease their impact on the climate.
